My 30cm x 25cm linocut print, entitled The Retro-Futurists: Robot Number Two, is now available exclusively through Etsy. I produced the print as a limited edition of twenty last September.
The image features a simple tin toy type robot shaman figure with a STOP sign. I'm a big fan of semiotics and wanted the robot shaman to represent or reflect religion in some way. Signage inhibiting behaviour in others seemed the most direct yet subtle option. I was also keen on a stark red / black / white contrast. It should be stressed that the grubby paper was an intentional part of the process / aesthetic I was going for. If these prove commercial I'll add to the series before long with additional robot figures!

Tiny Lines Make Strange Shapes In Darkness
Here's a sneaky peek at another in the character poster series for the upcoming theatrical event, based on a painting by Raphael.

Anticipation Set To Preposterously High Levels
I have been getting steadily more and more excited about Ridley Scott's new film Prometheus. The evocative new trailers that came out over the weekend have had me on the edge of my seat, trying to divine meaning from tantalising fragments and catch any ties to the iconic Space Jockey figure, naughty Xenomorph creatures and H. R. Giger's surreal, esoteric alien vistas.
What's really whet my appetite though is all the viral marketing about Weyland Industries, Peter Weyland, humanity playing God through terraforming and through the inception of synthetic humans. Even if the film ends up being a little disappointing, it seems as though it will be the sort of "think for yourself" science fiction I adore, packed with stunning imagery and intellectually stimulating themes / concepts.
Levitating Demon Baby Spells Doom
Today I added several linoleum prints to my new shop at Etsy.
I coloured some images that have been knocking about in my sketchbooks for a month or so. These will be appearing on The Museum of Fragmented Shadows just as soon as I can muster the long words to go with them. I also wrote a short story, The Hanging of Bucephalus Green, and posted it to Mister Paxman's Glorious Bastards.

Linocut Skulls On Sale Now
I just posted my first item for sale on Etsy
Please search for my little shop under misterpaxman.
I have spent a few hours messing about colouring and compositing together some drawings from my most recent sketchbook. I will now have some well deserved lunch and a short rest from staring at the computer screen, before starting to write some new characters for the blogs!
Black Shadow Lines Rain Down
I will be colouring some images for an hour or two and will hopefully also be posting a story later today.
Here's a peek at a poster of a boozy monk for an upcoming theatrical event. This was once again based on a painting by Raphael.

Her Name Is Like Chocolate Spread
I will be working on posters for an event until May. I will post some of the work in progress images here. Above is the first such image, based on a Raphael painting. I scanned an old copy of Slapstick, one of my favourite novels, for the lovely paper texture!
Other than that I will be posting new characters as often as possible and setting up my stall on Etsy, to sell prints and other wonderful stuff. Yesterday I had a good plotting session for The Museum of Fragmented Shadows, so there are some wacky and macabre yarns afoot!
Last night I stepped in a massive squidgy brown dog turd, right before getting in a taxi home. A very poor end to what had been an extremely enjoyable day. I'd met a funny cat, two long haired guinea pigs and had roast pork with friends.
